Creator: Enrico Tartarotti · Published: 2025-07-14 · Length: 14:28 · Watch on YouTube

YouTube's own design is leading to creators quitting. Discover how the design of your product can have such an effect that your favorite creators, with millions of followers end up quitting and with burnout, not because they were just tired of making videos but because of how YouTube itself is designed. (from the video description)

Enrico uses his own channel's analytics to show how both YouTube's recommendation system and the YouTube Studio interface shape creator psychology, swinging people between extreme highs and lows until some walk away. Sponsored by Framer. (The auto-captions mishear a few names: "Enrio" for Enrico, "Vid IQ" for vidIQ, "Mr. Who's the Boss" for Mrwhosetheboss and "Frameware" for Framer. The corrected names are used below.) The video has no chapters, so the timestamps below are approximate section starts.

3) Biographies

Enrico Tartarotti

Italian-born YouTuber, designer and entrepreneur whose channel goes behind the scenes of the design, engineering and psychology of everyday tech. He's building Flask (flask.do), a video feedback and collaboration tool. Here he opens up his own YouTube Studio analytics, including his growth from 1,000 to 100,000 subscribers in a year and the 80-plus hours he spends on a single video.

Arun Maini (Mrwhosetheboss)

British tech YouTuber behind Mrwhosetheboss, one of the largest consumer-tech channels on YouTube, known for smartphone reviews and comparisons. Enrico uses one of his videos, which drew eight times his average views, to explain the outlier score.

Creators shown quitting (unnamed in the video)

The cold open plays clips of well-known YouTubers announcing breaks or final episodes. The "My last theory episode" clip appears to be MatPat (Matthew Patrick), creator of Game Theory and Film Theory, who stepped away from hosting in early 2024; Enrico doesn't name any of the creators.
